The first pilot watch that helps pilots to manage holding patterns
Most pilot watches imitate aviation. This one determines its procedures.
  • Holding Pattern Management
An ingenious mechanical system which works in connection with inner dial ring and the heading data on the bezel, allows the pilot to enter and manage his holding pattern in preparation for landing, once airport approach has communicated the holding point.
  • A Complete Pilot Watch

    Chronograph
The chronograph serves to time the holding pattern legs, as well as measuring total flight time and any time-speed-distance related flight calculation. The watch encases a sophisticated SW530 Swiss made chronograph movement with 15min and 12h chrono counters.

    UTC
The Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) hand keeps track of the world-wide aviation time. It allows pilots, controllers, and dispatchers to operate according one consistent timing globally - to eliminate confusion from time zone changes or local daylight saving.
Limited to
300pcs
This watch is produced in strictly limited quantities as the flagship model of the Alpina Startimer Pilot collection.

Each piece reflects a collaboration shaped by heritage, engineering and disciplined design. Production is calibrated to preserve integrity, not scale. Serious instruments demand serious commitment.

At CHF 4’290, this is a considered acquisition for those who value mechanical substance and collectability over trend. Allocation will be released in stages.

Priority access will be granted to those who engage early and whose mindset aligns with the philosophy behind the project.

Because navigation, in flight and in life, is never accidental.
Why this watch exists
This collaboration did not begin with aesthetics. It began with a question : What would a mechanical wrist instrument look like if it were conceived from the logic of disciplined flight and not from retro aviation styling or nostalgic references.

Instead conceived for clarity of hierarchy, legibility under workload, with functions shaped by real procedures.

Developed by Watch Angels for Alpina, this limited edition chronograph interprets aviation structure through Swiss horology, translating timing, orientation and redundancy into mechanical form.

It's not built for admiration at 30,000 feet. It is built for the thinking that happens there.

Aerial Navigation is not a design theme. It is a discipline.
“This collaboration with Alpina is a natural continuation of our philosophy at Watch Angels: applying rigorous R&D to the functional side of mechanical watchmaking, with particular attention to case and case component engineering . By translating the logic of holding patterns into a mechanical logic, we have created a pilot’s watch that is not only inspired by aviation, but actually shaped by it.”

Alpina Startimer Pilot.
Heritage and Legacy.
Founded in 1883, Alpina has long stood at the intersection of Swiss precision and real-world performance. Its timepieces were conceived not as ornaments, but as instruments — built for mountaineers, explorers, and aviators who depended on reliability.

The Alpina Startimer Pilot lineage reflects that philosophy: absolute legibility, functional robustness, and clarity of hierarchy — principles rooted in professional use rather than aesthetic nostalgia.

This limited edition was developed in close collaboration between Alpina and Watch Angels, uniting legacy with independent conceptual vision.

The result is not a reinterpretation of the past. It is a contemporary mechanical instrument shaped by the discipline of flight.
“With the Startimer collection, Alpina has always celebrated authentic aviation heritage. Through our collaboration with Watch Angels, we had the opportunity to push that legacy further by exploring new functional ideas. This project stands as a highlight of the new Startimer line and reflects our shared ambition to expand the boundaries of pilot watch innovation.”
Oliver van Lanschot Hubrecht, CEO of Alpina Watches
This instrument is not for everyone. It’s for those who refuse to drift
A mechanical expression of disciplined navigation. Not to replace modern systems but to reinforce control

In aviation, the most demanding moments are rarely the fastest. They are the most structured.

Holding procedures. Final approach. High workload IFR conditions. In these phases, clarity replaces noise and timing replaces instinct.

This complicated pilot chronograph has been conceived within that logic, not as decoration, but as a mechanical expression of disciplined navigation.

It does not replace modern systems.

It reinforces control.

The Watch Angels + Alpina Startimer IFR Chronograph Limited Edition will be revealed to collectors at Watches & Wonders in Geneva from the 14th to 20th of April 2026. Visit us at the Alpina - Frederique Constant house for an exclusive individual preview of the watch.

and get priority at launch
When the order window opens we allocate in priority to collectors who personally align with the philosophy of the watch.
In aviation, instruments are only as valuable as the mindset behind them. Precision without discipline is noise, redundancy without structure is excess.

This collaboration was conceived for those who appreciate that navigation is not instinct but intention.

Before the order windows opens in May 2026, we invite you to complete a short assessment. Not of technical knowledge. But of mindset.
